Job Summary
The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations department of the Bank. The role involves ensuring efficient and effective operational processes, implementing best practices, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Set departmental goals, objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with the overall business objective of the company.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions within the operations department.
- Implement best practices, automation, technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance customer experience.
- Conduct regular reviews and assessments of existing processes to identify bottlenecks and recommend enhancements.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the operations team.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, teamwork, and employee development within the department.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations, laws and internal policies.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure necessary changes are implemented in the operations processes and systems.
- Conduct regular audits to monitor compliance and address any identified gaps or issues.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, including fraud, errors, and non-compliance.
- Develop and implement risk management frameworks and controls within the operations department.
- Monitor key risk indicators and initiate corrective actions as required.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and vendors to address operational matters.
- Monitor performance of the operations team against established KPIs and metrics.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on operational activities, performance and initiatives for senior management.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
Experience: With 5 to 10 years experience in Banking Operations or higher and Core Banking System (i.e. Temenos T24)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of banking products, processes, regulations and industry best practices.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in using banking software, systems and technology solution
